Stream Energy is a Dallas-based energy provider that has really gone to lengths to disprove the myth that energy companies are only in the business of getting rich even if it comes at the expense of their customers. The Dallas based company was quick to respond during the crisis of Hurricane Harvey by donating money to relief efforts as well as provide financial help their own customers who lived in the area during the tragic event. This spirit of altruism is not new to Stream as they have a long history of giving back to the communities that helped make them such a giant in the world of direct energy sales.
One of the major ways Stream Energy has shown the philanthropic culture that pervades the company is through the formation of Stream Cares, a non-profit wing of the company whose sole purpose is to lend support where needed throughout the United States. This idea of leveraging charity against profits is a fairly recent one which more and more companies are involving themselves in, but for the cynics out there who think this is merely a ploy to make the brand look better, Stream Cares has been operating for over a decade now and the spirit of altruism that comes along with it has worked its way throughout every level of the company.
Since Stream Energy first began its philanthropic work they have become close with known charities such as Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross. One of the causes that seem to be of the greatest importance to Stream Energy is homelessness. In particular, their home area of Dallas has a very high homeless rate and to help combat it Stream partnered up with the local Hope Supply Company to help deliver all sorts of essentials like food, diapers, clothing, school supplies, and more for the homeless children in the area.
In addition to the monetary support Stream provides is also the human element. Employees are often encouraged to become a part of these projects and the company will even pay employees to participate. It is truly the spirit of philanthropy that drives Stream Energy forward.
