If there is a woman who is looking for a role model of success in the business world, Susan McGalla is that role model. Mrs. McGalla has risen through the ranks of leadership to hold the highest positions in some of the most prestigious companies in America. On top of that, she is also involved in her community and with a number of charitable organizations.
Susan McGalla credits much of her success in the business world to her early family life. In her family, everyone had to compete and work hard to get ahead. No one received a free handout.
Mrs. McGalla started her career in the business field by earning a bachelor’s degree from Mount Union College. Upon graduation, she took a position with the Joseph Home Company working in a variety of positions on the management level.
In 1994, Susan McGalla moved on to take a position with American Eagle Outfitters. She began as a buyer for the company. She then served in some management roles working her way up to becoming both the president and the chief merchandising officer. Mrs. McGalla left American Eagle Outfitters in 2009 to work as a private consultant.
Currently, Susan McGalla is the Vice President of Business Strategy and Creative Development with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. In addition to this position, Mrs. McGalla is the director of her own consulting firm called P3 Executive Consulting.
In addition to her business roles, Susan McGalla is involved in the community. She is a member of her college’s board of advisors, and she is a director for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
Mrs. McGalla is also active in promoting the needs of women in the business world. She has promoted the idea of women having mentors in the workplace in order to have the opportunity to advance to high-level positions.
